When Maryse Ouellet went to the Bell Center in Montreal to watch a wrestling event for the first time in 2003, she instantly fell in love with professional wrestling.  "I just loved the way all those people would come out onto the stage and get in the ring, I loved the way they performed in front a live crowd. " Maryse enjoyed playing her character and says winning the Divas Championship is one of the most memorable moments of her career. But on October 28th while recovering from surgery for an abdominal hernia that Maryse received her release from WWE. When asked about leaving WWE, Maryse was extremely happy and looking forward to the future stating that she has been looking to leave the wrestling business for a while."I just want better and bigger and I want to be performing on the big screen, I am working on a big project called House Of Maryse, which will be launching in summer 2012. It will be my clothing and jewelery selection and will be available in more than 500 stores in the U.S. and online at www.houseofmaryse.com." I need to build and grow and I didn't have any interest in the WWE anymore. I was like, next!

"I knew in my heart that I wanted to leave WWE for a long time. I'm a business woman." "My manager was happy when he heard of my release. He said to me, 'Now we can start working on the serious stuff.' I'm ready for a new chapter in my life. I have been with the WWE for six fantastic years, but now I want to do more.

"I would go back to WWE, for a million dollars and a main event match at Wrestlemania. But, no TNA."

Gail Kim Says WWE Disrespected Her

In a new interview conducted for SLAM! Wrestling, former WWE Diva and current TNA Knockout Gail Kim spoke on a number of topics, including her departure from WWE and the infamous "roll out" she did during a Battle Royal. On that subject, Kim had the following to say: "I don't regret what I did at all. It was a respect thing," Kim says. "I was told to get eliminated as soon as possible, so that's what I did. I saw my decision as a case of either continuing to take their lack of respect or doing something about it. Nobody knows what I went through in terms of disrespect during my time there, but that move wasn't just about me it was a culmination of all the disrespect I felt that all the other women and the women's division as a whole had received too, I was taking a stand.

While a lot of fans watching Raw noticed what I did, nobody from WWE noticed, that just shows how much they didn't care. I went up to Johnny [John Laurinaitis] after and spoke about the Battle Royal and his reaction towards the match was, 'Yeah, I heard it was pretty shit.' I was amazed and I then told him how I eliminated myself and he just laughed. How can fans take the division seriously if the people working for the company aren't? If it had been one of the men who had eliminated themselves they would have been punished, but because it was the women nobody cared, not even after I had told them."

Sasha Grey slams media' after her school visit

Former porn star Sasha Grey slammed what she called a "sanctimonious media firestorm" surrounding her visit to a Compton elementary school last week and said Wednesday that she'd like to continue working with students on reading. "I feel that there was a lot of sanctimonious media firestorm thrown at me. However, I've always gone after what I want, and I will continue to do that,"

Some parents in Compton complained about her visit to the school last week. "They could not find a fireman or a police officer?" asked parent Dudley Wheaton. "They had to get a porn star?"

Grey, who recently landed a part in the HBO show "Entourage," visited Emerson Elementary School as part of its guest reader program. The visit was arranged by an outside talent coordinator, the Compton Unified School District said in a statement. "The outside talent coordinator listed the actress as a mainstream actress from the HBO show 'Entourage,' " said the statement, which refrained from mentioning Grey by name.  "Although we have worked with this talent coordinator for several years, we will meet to review the participant selection process." Grey said, "that the situation could have been handled better. "Should they have informed the parents? Yes."

A woman activist who posted nude pictures of herself on her blog to protest limits on free expression has triggered an uproar in Egypt, drawing condemnations from conservatives and liberals alike.
Some liberals feared that the posting by 20-year-old university student Aliaa Magda Elmahdy would taint them in the eyes of deeply conservative Egyptians ahead of Nov. 28 parliamentary elections in which they are trying to compete with fundamentalist Islamic parties.

Nudity is strongly frowned upon in Egyptian society, even as an art form. Elmahdy's posting is almost unheard of in a country where most women in the Muslim majority wear the headscarf and even those who don't rarely wear clothes exposing the arms or legs in public.

Elmahdy wrote on her blog that the photographs - which show her standing wearing only stockings - are "screams against a society of violence, racism, sexism, sexual harassment and hypocrisy." The blog has received 1.5 million hits since she posted the photos earlier this week.
The posting comes at a time when Egypt, a nation of some 85 million people, is polarized between Islamists and liberals ahead of the elections, the first since the February ouster of former President Hosni Mubarak. Members of the most hardline Islamic movement in Egypt, the Salafis, have warned voters during their campaigns that liberals will corrupt Egypt's morals.

The posting prompted furious discussions on Internet social media sites, with pages for and against her put up on Facebook.
One activist, Ahmed Awadallah, praised her in a Tweet, writing, "I'm totally taken back by her bravery."

A supporter, who identified himself as Emad Nasr Zikri, wrote in a comment on Elmahdy's blog, "We need to learn how to separate between nudity and sex." He said that before fundamentalist influence in Egypt, "there were nude models in art school for students to draw."

Some 100 people liked his comment, while thousands flooded the site with insults. Some denounced Elmahdy as a "prostitute" and "mentally sick" or urged police to arrest her.
Elmahdy did not reply to attempts by The Associated Press to contact her.
Her move comes as Salafis have become more assertive in pushing their attitude that women should be kept out of the public eye, promoting a Saudi Arabia-style segregation of the sexes. On Salafi parties' campaign banners, photos of the few female candidates are replaced by drawings of a flower.
During a recent election rally in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, Salafists covered up a public statue that depicted mermaids. Salafi clerics appearing on TV talks shows have refused to appear face-to-face with female TV hosts, unless the presenter puts on a headscarf or in one case, a barrier was placed between the two. Most recently, an Islamist preacher crashed into a university musical concert in a Nile Delta province of Mansoura, saying music was forbidden by Islam and that he wanted to "promote virtue and prevent vice" - the term used for the mission of Saudi Arabia's religious police.

Women rights activist Nehad Abou el-Qomsan said conservatives "keep adding layers to cover up the women and deny their existence."

But, she said, what Elmahdy did "is also rejected because posing nude is a form of body abuse."

Kim began watching the footage after filming wrapped in mid-October, and, according to a source, was "absolutely mortified when she saw on camera, the way that Kris was treating her. “The marriage was already under a tremendous amount of stress, but she just couldn't believe that she had married this man that was treating her and her family like this.” The E! reality darling will be seen "as the victim, and Kris will definitely be the bad guy. Kim was stunned by the amount of bad press and the public relations nightmare she has endured since deciding to file for divorce,” a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com. “Kim will be using the show to attempt to rehab her image. Kim has been telling her inner circle that she has worked very hard to get where she has, and she isn't going to let her marriage and subsequent decision to divorce Kris Humprhies ruin that. “Kim carefully and methodically plans all of her business decisions, and that is how she is looking at her divorce, as all business. Of course she is sad, but it's all about Kim's endorsement deals and paid promotional appearances. There were reports that Kim was going to lay low after she filed for divorce, yet several days later, she was in Atlanta shooting a role in the movie, The Marriage Counselor. “Kim will be ringing in New Year's Eve in Las Vegas. The fact is Kim is extremely insecure, and she is truly afraid that if she were to disappear from the public eye, for even more than a week, her fame would disappear," the source says.
