UFC: Ronda Rousey reveals in SELF Mag. she was fed hot wings

Unbeaten women’s bantamweight champion used to beat people up for Frappuccinos - and loves being curvy. UFC champion Ronda Rousey is the cover girl for ‘Self’ magazine – where she discusses her body, fighting as a kid, her mother – and hot wings. She is undefeated in 18 MMA and UFC bouts and was interviewed by comedian Chelsea Peretti, revealing she used to bet strangers after school that she could beat them up for $10, money she used to buy Frappuccinos. Rousey also talked of her positive body image, insisting: “I love feeling like I’m inhabiting the body of a ninja - like I could rob a liquor store with my bare hands if I wanted to – but I also like when I eat a little more, fill out and get a little bit curvier. I feel more feminine.”
Rousey, who next defends her title on November 14 against unbeaten Holly Holm in Melbourne, also revealed the lengths the UFC has gone to to keep her happy.

She famously unwinds after fights by binging on hot wings. After knocking out Bethe Correira in 34 seconds at UFC 190, a private chef was on hand to make her trademark dish, courtesy of UFC ownership.

“I eat about 50 hot wings,” Rousey said. “I love hot wings. After my last fight, one of the UFC owners flew in a private chef from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro so that he could make me hot wings, because there are no hot wings in Rio! That’s how important they are to me.”

Helen Mirren, More Nude Scenes?

If you didn’t already know this, Helen Mirren is awesome. Sure, she’s a distinguished Shakespearian actress with tons of memorable roles and awards to her credit, but she also wants to be in a Fast and Furious movie, isn’t afraid to brandish heavy weapons on screen, and is willing to take risks should a part demand it. There is, however, one thing that she’s done in the past that shall remain firmly in the past from now on: don’t expect any more nude scenes from Dame Helen.

During a recent interview on CBS, conducted by Alan Cumming, the 70-year-old Academy Award winner put the subject to rest, saying that her days of publicly baring it all are now behind her. She said: "That’s the good thing about getting older; you don’t have to do that sort of thing anymore. My pleasure pillows are purely for my husband."

Over the course of her illustrious career, Mirren has never been particularly shy about showing off her body, should the role require such a move. Dating back to Age of Consent in 1969, when she was 23, the actress has taken it all off a number of times, including in the X-rated Caligula, and in 2003’s Calendar Girls. Even as recently as 2011 she stripped down for a photo spread in New York magazine.

Her "pleasure pillows" have become so well known in their own right that they were the subject of a digital short on Saturday Night Live. Apparently they have magical, transformative powers. Who knew? While she never wanted to perform nude on screen, Mirren says she was also never particularly opposed to it, noting that it wasn’t worth getting upset about. Part of this, she says, was due to the era where her acting career began. She even compared what they did in Caligula—a big-budget porn with Hollywood stars, produced by Penthouse founder Bob Guccione, and written by Gore Vidal—which, at the time, was very taboo, to things that have become commonplace today. She said: "Now, Game of Thrones, 8 o’clock at night, there it is… exactly what we did in Caligula. Everything’s a sex scene. Everything!"

So, Helen Mirren may not be appearing nude on screen anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be seeing the clothed version of actress from time to time. Later this year, she appears in Trumbo, director Jay Roach’s biopic of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (played by Bryan Cranston), who was blackballed from Hollywood for being a communist. That film is slated for release on November 6, just don’t expect Dame Helen to strip down.

Nicki Minaj's Life Is a Comedy?

Just under a month after Nicki Minaj threw some major shade at Miley Cyrus during the MTV Video Music Awards,

the pop star is headed back to television in a huge way, and it presumably won’t have anything to do with Miley. ABC Family has given a series commitment to a comedy show centered around Minaj’s life before she hit it big. They’ll need more people tuning in than just the ones that bought her last album if they want it to be a success. Not a burn, just a TV fact.

The project, which doesn’t have a name just yet, will be a single-camera, half-hour comedy that focuses on Minaj’s past, which involves her family immigrating to the United States from Trinidad in the 1990s. Audiences will see faux-Minaj grow up in Queens with her charismatic family, and will follow her down the path to her musical and personal evolution that led to her being one of the most recognizable rap artists in the country. It’s unclear at this point whether anything from her actual musical library will be used in the show, but I can’t imagine that’ll be the case. At least not until the show makes some money and possibly gets a Season 2 order. That said, Minaj will actually star in the show in some capacity, so maybe there’s some wiggle room. And until then, here's how her lyrical input will be included.

The pilot episode was written by Sex Tape scribe Kate Angelo, who will also be writing the rest of the series, as well as executive producing. That’s a duty she’ll share with Chasing Life’s Aaron Kaplan, Boss’ Brian Sher, The Blueprint Group’s Gee Roberson and Stella Bulochnikov. (The latter two worked on the E! miniseries Nicki Minaj: My Truth.) As far as Angelo’s other work is concerned, she wrote for Becker and Will and Grace, as well as the 2010 film The Back-Up Plan.
ABC Family’s Executive Vice President of Programming and Development Karey Burke is certainly on board with getting this series to viewers. Here’s what Burke had to say about working with Minaj. "Nicky Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches. We’re beyond thrilled to bring her one-of-a-kind story to our channel. Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world."

While it’s not clear when ABC Family will want to put the Minaj-flavored comedy out for audiences to drop some pills ‘n’ potions to alongside Pretty Little Liars and Stitchers, it looks like the show will go into production at some point this winter in Minaj’s hometown of Queens, New York.
